    FIXIT

FIXIT automatically retrieves relevant documentation while the user works in the diagnostic expert system. FIXIT's intelligent agent monitors the context of the diagnostic session and passes this information on to an external computational resource. In this case, the computational resource is an information retrieval system. The information retrieval system accesses a legacy technical documentation database and returns documents which are relevant to the current case. We call this method "query-free" information retrieval because the user is not required to input queries; the system "guesses" the best query based on the context of the diagnostic session. The user is then notified when the agent has located relevant information.
