Job Opening for Research Scientist in Computer Vision

Researchers with experience in computer vision are invited to apply for a position with the California Research Center of Ricoh Innovations, Inc. As a member of our team you will help imagine the future of computer vision on camera phones and design algorithms that enable the efficient utilization of computer vision in everyday business activities. This exciting opportunity is open to outstanding researchers in computer science or electrical engineering. A strong background in developing computer vision algorithms is desirable. Experience working on collaborative projects in a research environment is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ph.d. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Good implementation skills in Visual C++, DirectShow, Java, Perl, or equivalent experience
  • Good communications skills and the willingness to work with a team

Job Opening for Software Engineer

We are looking for a dynamic software engineer with the right combination of skills and experience for the development of prototype systems for user driven research projects. This person will have critical impact on application design, development, testing, and site deployment working with a small interdisciplinary team.

We need you to have 5+ years of progressive software development experience with a minimum of 3 years of .NET development/design, and a strong UI or Web UI background. You have to be a self-starter, a team contributor, a fast learner and most importantly, creative.

The ideal candidate will have a very strong background in the following:

  • Self Starter with solid understanding of fast development lifecycles (i.e.: Extreme programming)
  • .NET stack, strong knowledge of C# and VB
  • PostgreSQL or other DB platform
  • Linux, Windows XP, Windows CE a plus
  • Tomcat, Apache or other web server platform
  • Strong user interface experience
  • Familiarity with source code systems (i.e. Visual SourceSafe, CVS)
  • Familiarity with J2EE stack (Java and JavaScript minimum) and how it compares with .NET
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems a plus
  • Experience with embedded software a plus

Excellent communications skills, coupled with experience working with interdisciplinary teams (ethnographers, interaction designers, etc) strongly desired. Candidate will need to be comfortable giving presentations, and be willing to travel on occasion.
